PhD students have access to study rooms, computer labs, libraries, cafeterias, and the scientific and technological equipment available at the:

  • Department of Chemical Sciences (DSC),

  • Department of Biology (DB),

  • Department of Agriculture (DA),

  • Department of Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotechnology (DMMBM),

  • Department of Chemical, Materials, Industrial Production Engineering (DICMAPI),

  • Department of Physics “Ettore Pancini” (DF).

Study Rooms

DSC: 4th Floor, Entrance 5b. The study room is equipped with UniNa WIFI access and air conditioning. Open Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, excluding holidays and university closures.
DB: Basement level (-1).
DA:

  1. Esedra Room: Located on the right wing of Esedra on the ground floor, with 70 seats;
  2. Dinacci Room: Located in the Reggia on the 1st floor, with 50 seats;
  3. Doctoral Course Room: An 80-seat room (Room P of Pathology) on the 2nd floor of the Reggia.

All rooms are equipped with the following audiovisual tools: computer and projector, electronic whiteboard, and Internet connection.

DMMBM: Study rooms are in various buildings within the complex at Via Pansini 5.
DICMAPI: 2nd floor, rear section of the central building (Leopoldo Massimilla Library).
DF: Room 0G28 designated for PhD students.

Computer Rooms

DSC: LDI, Room OP2.
DB: rooms 1D-18/19/20, Basement Level (-1).
DA: room in the Mascabruno Complex on the ground floor, with 30 seats.
DMMBM: computer labs in the CESTEV, accessible from the complex at Via Pansini.
DICMAPI: computation Room, 2nd floor, rear section of the central building.

Libraries and Digital Resources

University Library: provides access to digital resources through the web server of the University Library System.
DSC: Department Library, featuring a reading room and a text consultation room.
DA: Department Library, featuring a reading room and a text consultation room.
DICMAPI: 2nd floor, rear section of the central building (Leopoldo Massimilla Library).
DMMBM: Department Library, featuring a reading room and a text consultation room.
DF: Roberto Stroffolini Departmental Library (Room 2G24).

Cafeterias

DSC: CSI Cafeteria. Entrance B, Basement Level (-2).
DB: CSI Cafeteria. Entrance B, Basement Level (-2).
DA: Agreements with nearby dining facilities, gym, swimming pool, and bookstore near the Reggia.
DMMBM: Bar-Cafeteria and Canteen building located within the complex.

  • Chemical Analysis (Environmental Chemistry Laboratory and Mass Spectrometry Laboratories).

  • Microscopy (Transmission Electron Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Confocal Raman Microscopy, Infrared Microscopy, Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy, Optical Microscopy.)
  • Magnetic Resonance (Ascend® 400 Bruker NMR Spectrometer, Varian INOVA 500 NMR Spectrometer).
  • Spectroscopy (Optical and Scattering Spectroscopy Laboratory, X-ray Diffraction Laboratory, IR Pellet Press).
  • Chromatography.
  • Microbial Cultures (Growth chambers, horizontal laminar flow hoods).

  • Cultivation of plants and microorganisms in vivo and in vitro (greenhouses, in vivo and in vitro growth chambers, horizontal laminar flow hoods.)
  • Plant phenotyping using the Plant Eye platform (Phenospex).
  • Microscopy (Confocal microscope; TEM; SEM.)
  • Chemical and biochemical analysis (ICP-OES; ICP-MS; CNS Analyzer; NMR Spectrometers; FT-IR; LC/HRMS; HPLC/DAD; GC-MS).
  • Molecular biology (Digital PCR; RT-PCR platforms).

Core facilities and infrastructure dedicated to:

  • Synthesis of macromolecules and bio-inspired materials for biosensor development.
  • State-of-the-art laboratories for cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
  • Next-generation nucleic acid sequencing.
  • Advanced cell imaging platform equipped with cutting-edge fluorescence microscopy. systems for high-resolution and high-contrast analysis of biological samples (cells, tissues, and model organisms), either fixed or in vivo.
  • Characterization of bio-organic complexes, including nuclear magnetic resonance, circular dichroism, mass spectrometry, UV spectroscopy, and nucleic acid/peptide synthesizers.
