Degree Course in Biomolecular and Industrial Biotechnology
The educational offer of the Study Program includes an English language course (6 credits) scheduled in the second semester of the first year.
Students who hold B1 certificates (or higher) - recognized by the CLA - are exempt from tuition. Students must send the certificate to Dr. Loredana Cavaliere of the CLA for career recognition.
Students who have non-certified English language skills are exempt from tuition if they pass the Placement Test, typically scheduled at the beginning of each year (from January to the beginning of March).
Students who fail the Placement Test are strongly encouraged to attend English teaching and take the Placement Test at the end of the course.
Master's Degree Course in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology
The linguistic skills required to be admitted to the Master's Degree Course are: documented competence in the correct use of the English language (in written and oral form) comparable to level B2.
The English language knowledge requirements must be acquired before sitting the exams of the courses scheduled for the second year.

The Placement Test ascertains language proficiency. It consists of a series of exercises of various kinds differentiated by level.
The Test is organized by the University Language Center (CLA).
The Placement Test is aimed at:
to students enrolled in the 1st year of the degree course in Biomolecular and Industrial Biotechnology (matrix N75) for the verification of knowledge of the English language, level B1; to students enrolled in the LM in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology (matrix N80) to ascertain the linguistic skills required to be admitted to the CdS (comparable to level B2).
Where and when does the Placement Test take place?
The Placement Test takes place in the computer rooms of the University structures. Typically the Placement Test takes place in the computer rooms of the Department of Biology.
The locations and classrooms for the scheduled tests are available on the CLA website. It is necessary to book for the test on the ESOL platform.
